Meet Aeshia Hines – Counselor-in-Training
I am Counselor Trainee (CT) under the Supervision of Dawn Swartz LPCC-S. I am pursuing my Masters of Science in Counseling Clinical and Mental Health Counseling at the University of Phoenix. I am passionate about the care I provide to those in need of counseling services and respect the rights of others to confidential and judgemental free environment. I believe that everyone has the right to feel safe and whole. I am very understanding and am willing to work with my clients whole heartedly to provide the best care. I desire to work with the prison population and their unique difficulties and am willing to learn and understand what their individual needs are. However I am not limited to this population alone. I take interest in dealing with clients who suffer from depression, substance abuse, physical abuse, trauma, grief and loss, and minor clients dealing with detachment and abandonment issues and sex abuse survivors.
My theory of choice is Rationale Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT). I believe that no one should be bound to their past traumas and that does not have to be the determining factor for their future. I also like the Adlerian and Soultion Focused therapy. I am a team player that will ask questions and collaborate with my supevisor and superiors to provide the best care for my clients. I am caring and understanding of all people and the unique situations that bring them to counseling. I practice from the mindset of its not whats wrong with you but what happened to you and can we do to help you on your healing journey.
